With Wine Cellars by Coastal, any space is possible to convert into a California custom wine cellar. Being in the wine cellar industry for many years, Coastal has created a good reputation among wine collectors. They have completed wine cellar conversion projects in California and New Jersey.
Let’s take a look at their recent project – the Aliso Viejo custom residential wine cellar in Orange County, California. In this project, the garage and the existing family room were merged to create a larger area for the wine storage room. This was done by shattering a huge portion of the wall. This resulted in a room that can store up to more than 1,000 wine bottles. The room has a width of 9.5 feet and depth of 8 feet.
Coastal replaced the carpet in the family room with wood flooring that catches the attention of the owner’s guests easily. To create a fresh new look and ambiance to the room, stone was added around the existing fireplace and windows.
Impressive Features of the California Home Wine Cellar Design
One of the special features of the custom wine cellar design for this project is the storage of beer out of sight in the garage. In the wall across the wine cellar entryway, dual beer taps were installed in a way that is connected to the draft beer dispenser and a kegorator in the garage.
Custom countertops were also constructed from the cooperage of 10-year old Napa valley oak barrels. The cooperage portions of the recycled wine barrels created unique markings on the countertops.
The Wine Cellar Cooling System and Wine Racking
A commercial grade ductless wine cellar cooling system was installed by Arctic Metalworks, a specialist in wine refrigeration systems, to maintain the ideal storage conditions in this California residential wine cellar. The evaporator, which was placed over the entrance doors, was concealed by a louvered grill cover. The grill cover was made of a wood species similar to that of the wine racking system – all-heart redwood.
Wine Cellar Cooling Unit & Cooperage Countertop
For the wine racking, Coastal designed the lower portions of the left and right side walls with 27-inch double deep wine racks. The wine racking above the cooperage countertop is a 13.5-inch single-deep format all the way to the ceiling.
Coastal also offers customization options for your wine cellar entry. In this project, dual pane Barolo glass double doors were used to seal the beautiful custom wine room. The wood used was Clear Alder with a rustic stain finish. The advantage of this type of door is that it allows visibility of the wine storage display.
